From Shedding Season to Keepsake: My First Try at Cat Fur Felting 🐾
If you have a cat, you know shedding season can feel… endless.
A few weeks ago, my cat Er Tong was basically turning into a giant walking dandelion 🍃. Every brush session left me with handfuls of soft, fluffy fur — all over the couch, the clothes, the floor. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming.
But instead of tossing all that fur, I thought: why not turn it into something special?
Making Something Out of Fur
I started saving every bit of Er Tong’s fur after brushing. It was soft, warm, and still carried that familiar scent only cat people get.
It honestly felt like a little magic trick.
And the best part? These little felt kittens weren’t just cute — they were made from Er Tong herself.
Only Cat People Will Understand
If you don’t have a cat, this might sound a little weird.
But if you do, you know exactly what I mean:
. You brush them and feel secretly proud of that huge fluff pile.
. You think, wow, this fur is still so soft… maybe I can save it.
. You don’t want to throw it away because it’s a piece of them.
Turning that fur into felt art isn’t just creative — it’s emotional. It’s a little keepsake filled with love, personality, and presence.
From “Too Much Fur” to “Two Little Cats”
What started as a frustrating shedding season turned into something joyful:
. Less guilt about the mess.
. A fun, new creative project.
. Two tiny felt kittens that feel like little twin versions of Er Tong.
Now they sit on my shelf — soft, simple, and full of meaning.
As a handmade artist, I’ve always believed art comes from everyday life. And sometimes, it even comes from what we’d normally sweep into the trash.
Honestly? This is just the beginning. I can already feel that cat fur felting will become a favorite little ritual of mine.
So if you’re a cat parent staring at a mountain of fluff right now… maybe don’t toss it just yet. You might have your next little masterpiece right in your hands. 🐾✨
